Rocking Hounding In Idaho

“ROCKHOUNDING” is a fun and educational outdoor activity that can be enjoyed
by everyone. The collecting of rocks, mineral specimens, gemstones, petrified
wood and common invertebrate fossils on public lands managed by the BLM is
generally considered a casual use activity. These activities require no permit, fee or
notification of the BLM, provided that:
• Collecting is not specifically prohibited or restricted, such as in developed
recreation sites and wilderness or wilderness study areas.
• Your collecting activities result in no more than minor disturbance of the
public lands.
• Equipment is limited to hand tools and metal detectors. You may not use
explosives or motorized/mechanical devices such as earthmoving
equipment.
• Specimens are for personal use and are not collected for commercial purposes or
bartered to commercial dealers.
• Only reasonable quantities are collected. For petrified wood, reasonable limits for
personal use are defined as 25 pounds, plus one piece, per day, with an
annual limit of 250 pounds.
• You reclaim any disturbance that you create, such as backfilling holes, etc.

One super fine multiple drop stone porcelain Beryllium (Bertrandite, Tiffany Stone, Opal Stone) multiple stone pendant. This stone can have a wide array of hues, everything from creamy to dark purple to milky pink and always with fabulous dendrites.

I cut and polished these free form pieces to reflect the awesome dendredic patterns found in this natural wonder. Get this...the original mine is now closed to collecting, something to do with insurance, but the rock itself is used by metal fabrication company's to strengthen iron for metal buildings....Go figure?

Each piece has been wire-wrapped with 20 gauge sterling silver and linked together with 2mm black leather cording, two 8mm sterling beads and lamp work glass beads from my OH, so favorite "skaramouhe".
The neck length is a comfortable 16", vintage celluloid button clasp.

Metaphysical - Obsidian Needle & Antique Nail Cross Pendant

A sculpted obsidian needle and antique iron nail, married with sterling silver wire and completed with 2mm black leather cord and a lamp work bead from the etys artisan "skaramouche" an etsy seller.

The obsidian needles measure 2 1/2" and the cross bar needle measure 2", the antique iron nail measures 3". The neck length is choker style at 14" with a vintage button for the clasp.

The natural obsidian needles yield from the California and Oregon shared border. These needles often used for wind chimes. But obsidian more commonly used for surgical tools in the operating room.

Smoky Crystal Hosting Garnets Clusters

The Smoky Quartz I've featured in my crudeco, come from Fujian Province, China. Orthoclase crystals with spessartine garnet crystals growing on the surface along with some smoky quartz crystals. The garnets are all well formed, sharp and have a beautiful dark red orange color. Nearly the entire shaft is covered in the spessartine garnet, only the remaining bottom point is accepting light. Complaining, Whining and Negative Attitudes.....

Recently discovered I don't have the desire to listen to whining, complaining or hating from anyone....I refuse being sucked in by hate and hostility.
What the world needs now is love....

I belong, sell and participate at etsy.com to sell my work, craft and hand made items. In order to freely participate in an open forum there are times where replying, engaging and communicating with others is part of the marketing process.

Ugh, opinions are important for marketing in an open forum, sure, but do those forums need to attract every "boo-hoo" whiner from here to "sad-sap" incorporated?

Here's a thought, live every moment in a hellish environment fighting a never ending battle with insurgents.....protecting your right to whine, complain and feel sorry for yourselves, too many of our country-person's spend way too much time crying about what they don't have or what they haven't gained.

Celebrate and cherish every moment, be grateful for your family and promote humankind in every form.
Glad to get that off my chest....certainly there will never be an end to negative behaviors.

Mom's Oatmeal Cookies

There's just not enough time in my day to bake....or at least as much as I would like. There's a calm that flows through my body when I'm allowed to bake and not talk. In August my bottom oven element went out in the kitchen oven............two months without an oven to bake with nearly sent me to madness.

Since buying a new oven, I have baked nearly everyday and dream of the things I can bake the next day.

My mom sent me her Oatmeal Cookie Recipe, she swears she made these very same cookies when I was a child. Funny I don't remember any sweet items in the house at all. And our cereal choices consisted of Cherrioes and Rice Crispies. Anyhow, I have made those cookies three times in the last two days, varying the recipe just slightly so I can actually call it my own.

Weird thing about this cookie dough, potato chips! Yeah, its the best of both worlds.....salty and sweet. My mom claims, she didn't have enough oatmeal to complete the recipe so she added the remaining bag of crumbled potato chips. Surorisingly enough unless you knew they were in there you'd not be able to detect them.

All the same the baking mood moves on and my family, neighbors and close friends are fat and happy filled with my baking projects.

Uh, I kinda miss the chef world and baking on a regular bases and being paid for it.

Mom's Potato Chip Oatmeal Cookie's with Mickey's Twists

1 c. room temp unsalted butter
1 c. sugar
1 one light brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp.salt

Cream together, then add 2 whole farm fresh eggs, 2 tsp. pure vanilla and 1/3 c. pure maple syrup and then cream again.

Add to the wet ingredients:

2 c. whole oats
2 c. crushed potato chips
1 c. ground flax seed
2 c. white flour ( wheat flour works well too)

Just for a twist:
1 / 12oz. package white or butterscotch chips
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. coconut flakes

(Other options tried and tested: Dried mango, diced and dried pineapple bits, pecans, macadamia nut, whole flax seed instead of ground, wheat nuts and/or Grape Nuts 1c. from the box)

If adding all of the last three, please increase by one additional whole fresh egg.

Blend and mix well by hand with a wooden spoon.

Using a 2 oz. ice cream scoop, scoop batter on to a restaurant style sheet pan or large cookie sheet. 12 scoops to a pan. Bake for 10 -12 minutes on 375 electric oven, gas range 350.

My mom enjoys "balling" each cookie dough by hand, measured at 2 0z. I don't have the patience for her method.....but I also love her cookies more.
